Our Music minister, Joe Guaci, believes that "music recreates the pulse of God's living creation and can help us experience that same life, leading us to a fuller comprehension of the love of God."

Worship at Grace features traditional and contemporary music, including hymns, gospel music and praise & folk songs. The congregation really sings with heart and gusto, supported by a choir that meets Sunday mornings for practice. Joe believes that "music enriches us as we share our faith through song and praise."

ABOUT THE ORGAN

DSC437.JPGGrace Episcopal Church is blessed with one of the finest organs in our area. Mr. & Mrs. Charles Doll, Jr. commissioned this magnificant instrument to be built as a memorial to their parents. The fine organ was built by George Price of Tekonsha, Michigan ans was over a year in planning and construction. This organ was dedicated on December 7th, 1975, and was expanded to eighteen ranks (now a total of 1063 pipes). The changes included a new Dulciana, a lengthened Gemshorn, and a new Unda Maris. The work was performed by William A. Hayes of Metamora, Michigan under the supervision of James Metting our then church organist. This organ was well designed for the space in the sanctuary at Grace, never over-filling it and yet always being heard. Come and enjoy the beautiful music at Grace!

Grace-Church-organ.jpgJoe Gauci is well qualified to understand the role of music in the Church. His musical training began when, at 10 years old, he first started learning to play the piano. He played the clarinet for the school band, and ended up in the University of Michigan Marching Band and School of Music. He has attended workshops led by such famous church folk musicians as the St. Louis Jesuits, David Haas, Bob Hurd, and others. Most of his direct musical training has come from his experience in folk groups and choirs with churches from Ann Arbor to Mount Clemens. Joe is currently serving two congregations as the Music Minister - He serves here at Grace church and down the street at St. Gabriel's in Eastpointe. Joe also plays at the St. Clair Shores Catholic community of St. Margaret's of Scotland.

Joe obtained hi Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies at U of M. At one point in his life Joe intended to become a Jesuit priest. He later received a Masters of Divinity degree from the Chicago Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago. Joe is one of the most delightful church musicians anywhere! He brings great joy, enthusiasm and optimism to his musical leadership, not to mention enormous talent!
